Boke Tāwtùy

Boke Tāwtùy (/təˑw/ /tʊj/ [trunk (of tree); stem] [frenzy; seizure]) is a subtropical Large City located in the Bombuqíh Region of the Tetburland.

The name Boke Tāwtùy is derived from the Sylvin language, as Boke Tāwtùy was founded by Da̋ńoīy Sérmpf̄ 'Alina Delux' Dākīy Góoīnḱ Mbó̄r, who was culturaly Tauran.

Climate

Boke Tāwtùy has a yearly average temperature of 27°C (80°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 30°C (86°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 24°C (75°F). Boke Tāwtùy receives an average of 281 cm/y (110 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Boke Tāwtùy covers an area of nearly 205 km² (82 mi²), and an average elevation of 5076 m (16653 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Boke Tāwtùy was founded durring the early 13th century in spring of the year 1239, by Da̋ńoīy Sérmpf̄ 'Alina Delux' Dākīy Góoīnḱ Mbó̄r. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Boke Tāwtùy was built using the conventions of Tauran durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Boke Tāwtùy is no diffrent. The city's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Boke Tāwtùy is buildings are located arround a single spacious packed earth mainstreet which forms a clockwise spiral to give the city a over all circular shape. The city sits behind a stone-renforced palisade wall, with stone gatehouses and timber drawbridges for their trench. The would-be-castle fortifications has suffered a visible ammount of structural damage, leaving them effectivly useless. One can't help but wonder why the has not yet effected repairs.

A look around Boke Tāwtùy gives the unmistakable impression the town is one of the strictest places imaginable. Everyone’s actions are clearly directed by laws they keep in heart and mind at all times. Orderly byond order is a phrase which Boke Tāwtùy brings to mind.

Boke Tāwtùy's old civil lighting system was converted to Galvanic Lamps recently, and expanded to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

Boke Tāwtùy has a first rate hospital which caters to anyone in need of long term medical care.

Boke Tāwtùy has a library, which keeps a large collection of books, scrolls, and archives all manner of physical items. While not open to the public, the librarians and scholars employed by the library will assist anyone with their research needs, and wealthy individuals can purchase membership to access the library's materials themselves. In spite of being generally closed to the public, the library has a room with several Aether Linked devices available to the public during business hours.

Boke Tāwtùy has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Boke Tāwtùy's natural decorations nor waterways.

Boke Tāwtùy has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Boke Tāwtùy has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Boke Tāwtùy has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Boke Tāwtùy is home to a University which provides higher education in a variety of fields, and also serves as a research institute for those same fields.

Cultural Notes

While Boke Tāwtùy has a public leader, the real authority is hidden from outsiders. This ruler may draw their authority from rationales unacceptable to outsiders, they may have cowed the public authority into obedience, or they may have a mutually beneficial private arrangement with the official ruler.

Boke Tāwtùy's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used embraces individualism and experimentation. It emerged as a movement against traditional, classical styles and sought to make buildings dynamic and fun while breaking the rules. The style incorporated elements of previous architectural styles in exaggerated and whimsical ways. Traditional, conservative leanings were void in this era, with most scholars of architecture agreeing it was a time of “anything goes.”.

Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is short in Boke Tāwtùy.

The Leshy, Snapdragon near Boke Tāwtùy are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Boke Tāwtùy's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves drinking to channel Invocation energies of tier 3 via divine sermons.

Economy

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century a local hero by the name of saved most of the town when a natural disaster struck Boke Tāwtùy. The recitation of the hero's story remains a popular tavern and fair tale.
